During the second half of 2024, a total of 160 people took part in various Destination Europe sessions hosted by EMN France. The majority of participants were master’s students (Sciences Po, Sorbonne Nouvelle, Institut Catholique de Paris and Lyon III), representatives of NGOs, public officials and professionals from the private sector.
Participants particularly appreciated the interactive aspect of the learning tool, including the debates and various of points of view they had to adopt. Additionally, they found it interesting how the possible impacts of their decisions were presented throughout the session.
At the end of the workshops, a majority of participants expressed an interest in learning more about migration. Several aspects that were repeatedly mentioned in this context were the positions of EU Member states on migration and asylum, statistical data on these topics in France and Europe, and the functioning of EU institutions.
People that were trained by EMN France to run Destination Europe sessions consider that the tool is particularly relevant because it explores migration from different angles (i.e., humanitarian, economic, security, etc.) and develops critical thinking, all while reinforcing key skills such as collaboration, communication and leadership.
