As part of the 23rd Annual IMISCOE – International Migration Research Network Conference themed “Strengthening migration studies through community engagement”, EMN Luxembourg coordinator Birte Nienaber participated in a workshop on “Serious games for serious issues: Exploring the potential of serious games and simulations in education, training, community engagement and research on migration and labour mobility”.
The workshop organised by Veronica Federico and Karen Geertsema, brought together researchers from several countries to present serious games on migration, exchange insights on their design and structure, and discuss their advantages and limitations.
During the exchange part, Birte Nienaber presented the educational learning tool Destination Europe, an engaging tabletop tool based on role-play, coordinated by EMN Luxembourg. The tool introduces participants to migration and integration decision-making in an interactive way.
Destination Europe is available in 14 languages and is actively used by students, teachers, and stakeholders across Europe.
Please visit the “Print-and-Play” section of this website to learn more about the different language versions.
