Students from Luxembourg and Germany explore migration policies and exchange with members of the European Parliament

Interactive workshop on migration decision-making

On Thursday 02 July 2026, the Luxembourg Contact Point of the EMN and the Liaison Office of the European Parliament in Luxembourg hosted the sixth edition of their new workshop format “On the Way to Europe”, combining an interactive workshop on migration policy with an exchange with members of the European Parliament.

During the first part of the workshop, a group of 42 Luxembourgish and German students from the Edward Steichen International School in Clervaux (Luxembourg) and the Archenhold-Gymnasium in Berlin participated in an interactive Destination Europe session, experiencing migration and integration challenges, stepping into the roles of different stakeholders and discovering the impact of their political decisions on the EU, national and local level.

During the second part of the workshop, students had the opportunity to share their thoughts and questions, with two members of the European Parliament, namely Marc Angel (Luxembourgish MEP for S&D) and Erik Marquardt (German MEP for the Greens/EFA).

During this exchange, the students first summarised their experiences of the first part of the workshop and then engaged in a discussion on migration, European policies and sustainability with the MEPs.
