On 3 March 2026, EMN Luxembourg organised a workshop at the National Reception Office (ONA) for new staff members and those who recently signed a new contract.
ONA is responsible for organising the reception of applicants for international protection and managing accommodation facilities reserved for the temporary accommodation of applicants for international protection and people eligible for subsidiary protection.
To familiarise new staff with the various aspects of the administration’s work, ONA organises induction days twice a year, which include workshops that bring together employees from different teams and departments. Destination Europe has been a key part of these induction days for several years, EMN Luxembourg had the opportunity to host the session themselves during the most recent edition.
After a brief introductory round, where participants explained their tasks and positions to the rest of the group, EMN Luxembourg gave an overview of their activities, while also introducing the rules and the setup of Destination Europe.
A total of 18 participants discussed migration challenges and respective policy options in 3 groups. After having taken on the role of different actors on the European, national and local level, the different groups summarised their experiences and exchanged observations in a concluding discussion.
