During the months of March, April and May 2024, EMN Luxembourg organized three educational workshops at the Lycée pour professions éducatives et sociales (LTPES) in Mersch, Luxembourg.
As part of the sociology course in the final school year, students from the educative profession stream learn about different aspects of migration, including important impacts and challenges. In this context, Destination Europe is helping students to better understand migration and integration decision-making and illustrates potential outcomes of migration policy decisions for different groups of migrants and citizens of EU countries where migrants settle.
Over the course of three workshops, a total of 73 students tried out the pedagogical learning tool, taking up different roles at the EU, national and local level. EMN Luxembourg made sure to briefly present the structure and the work of the European Migration Network, which was followed by an introduction of the tool itself.
The majority of each session (2 lessons of 45 minutes) was dedicated to playing through Destination Europe, where students eagerly discussed different migration and integration challenges, while analyzing the impacts of their decisions.
At the end of the sessions, students and teachers where kindly asked to fill out the dedicated feedback forms, which are available for download – in English, German and French – in the “Additional Materials” section. The collected feedback will allow us to continuously improve the Destination Europe experience.
These workshops are a continuation of the collaboration with the LTPES that began in 2023, when EMN Luxembourg organized four such workshops with approximately 80 students. EMN Luxembourg would like to thank the teachers and students for their engagement and productive discussions during the sessions.
