A look back at French activities during the “Lovely month of Europe” in May 2026

"Week of Excellence" at the University of Caen Normandie

In May 2026, EMN France visited the Faculty of Law at the University of Caen Normandie as part of their annual ‘Week of Excellence’, organized for students of the “College of Excellence” of the faculty. The 2026 edition featured a series of educational activities centered around the topic of ‘truth’.

In this context, EMN France held two Destination Europe session for 24 first-year students. The role-playing activity generated strong interest, as participants enjoyed embodying different characters. Students reported no difficulty debating, even when defending positions that contradicted their personal beliefs.

This activity highlights the steps EMN France has taken to consolidate the implementation of the tool within higher education institutions.

Interactive teacher trainings in the Alsace Region

During the month of May, EMN France also organised two interactive trainings for teaching staff as part of the national training program “Enhancing teaching practices with educational tools in citizenship and international security” led by the General Directorate for Education and Research of the French Ministry of Agriculture. Both sessions were held at the agricultural high school in Rouffach (Alsace Region).

The 15 participating teachers showed great interest in the tool, while some of them highlighted concerns about potential challenges in introducing Destination Europe to audiences less familiar with topics such as migration, integration and asylum. Following the session, several participants ordered physical copies of the tool in both French and English, reflecting the success of this activity.

Presentation for policy officers in Nantes

Finally, on 28 May 2026, EMN France was invited by the Sub-Directorate for Access to French Nationality, located within the Ministry of the Interior, in Nantes, to present the tool to approximately 40 policy officers during a ‘breakfast’ session.
