On January 29, 2025, the European Migration Network (EMN) Lithuania team met with Vilnius city teachers in the context of the “Sustainable School – from Theory to Practice” teacher training program.
This program, implemented by the Global Citizens’ Academy together with the Education agency of Vilnius municipality – EDU Vilnius, includes migration as one of the topics of focus.
In the first part of the meeting, the participants explored the European Union’s and Lithuania’s key objectives in migration policy, diving into the complexities of decision-making at different governance levels.
In the second part, the educational learning tool “Destination Europe” was introduced. Participants stepped into the roles of EU commissioners, national policymakers, municipal representatives, NGOs and other key stakeholders, engaging in discussions on migration policy. By constructing arguments and making political decisions, the participants experienced firsthand how each choice shapes migration processes.
