Students from the Atert-Lycée Redange in Luxembourg discuss migration and integration challenges

On 05 March, EMN Luxembourg visited the Atert-Lycée Redange to run three separate Destination Europe sessions with a total of 69 high school students. The 12th grade (2e) students aged between 17 and 21 first got a brief explanation of the work that the European Migration Network does on the national and European level. In a next step, they were introduced to the interactive learning tool.

In three different rounds, students were able to take on the roles of different stakeholders and actors on the European, national and local level and discuss migration and integration challenges while voting for their preferred solutions. In the process, they were able to identify the impacts of their decisions not only on three different migrant personas, but also on the EU-public. To conclude each of the sessions, the different groups were asked to present the outcomes of their discussions and were given the opportunity to reflect and give their personal opinion on the futures they created with their decisions.

EMN Luxembourg would like to thank all students and teachers for their interest and their active participation and is grateful for the opportunity to discuss migration and integration on the high school level.

Voices from the workshops

“The game is a good option for understanding the issues and challenges faced by migrants and in terms of integration, while offering a good change from the traditional teaching methods used in schools.”

“This is a great way to playfully understand the background of migration and integration policy.”
