The European Migration Network (EMN) in Slovakia continues organizing workshops on the EMN educational tool Destination Europe.

On 15 April 2024, 20 students of the Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences of the Comenius University Bratislava attended a workshop on migration as part of the Migration in Context course. The workshop was held by representatives of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Slovakia as the coordinator of the EMN in Slovakia.

After an interactive presentation on migration, facts and figures in Slovakia and in the world, the students participated in the role-playing activity Destination Europe. The students discussed decision-making in the area of migration policies at the local, national and European level and analyzed how these decisions influence the lives of three migrants in different situations – Yulia, Ahmed and Sunil.

As the educational tool Destination Europe is not only available in Slovak, but also in English and 10 other European languages, the workshop was delivered in English which enabled an active participation of Slovak and foreign students. During the discussions, the students practiced skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and leadership.

EMN Slovakia organizes workshops on the topic of migration as part of which students can try the educational tool Destination Europe.

The workshop is divided into two sessions of 1,5 hours each, but the duration can also be adjusted according to the needs of a school or class. The workshops are free of charge.
